MOMMA AND 3 BABIES DUMPED

URGENT: Task Force TailWag Update

Tonight at Approximately 20:36, we recieved a call from the Marion County Fire Departments driver for their Squad truck that hit home for all of us. A what looks to be a slightly older sibling dog and three pups were dumped on Highway 41 (image of location posted below)—that had literally looked as if seconds or even minutes before the crew came accross them. The crew came over a hill and nearly struck them, an incident that could have easily resulted in a tragic accident for both the animals and the crew member. Luckily this crew member knew what he was doing and his skills payed off. Keep in mind with limited light visibility as the sun sets coming over a hill like that it is a very hard situation to be able to see or notice anything in the roadway.

A huge shout-out to the Marion County FD volunteer crew for not just passing by. They stayed on the scene, took action, and ensured these souls were safe until we could arrive. Although there are still a few things that we need to do in order to be completely official we have reached out and have been given some specific left and right limits that will allow us to still help and be involved. We have taken them into our personal care for now, but as a new organization still finding our footing, we are navigating this rescue process in real-time.

The Situation:

It is clear this family was recently part of a home. The older sibling shows distinct crate behavior but very protective over the babies, has good nails, and they all have a "home" scent and clean ears. Her tail appears to have been docked when she was a puppy. They are understandably confused and are still searching for their people, which is absolutely heartbreaking. Fortunately she warmed up to us relatively quickly.

How You Can Help:

Our immediate goal is to get this little family vaccinated and health-tested. We are currently looking for:

-Relocation/Fostering: As we are not fully operational yet, we may need assistance with permanent placement or temporary fostering once they are cleared.

-Networking: If you are a local rescue organization and have the capacity to partner with us or offer guidance, please reach out.

-Supplies: Anyone that is willing to donate supplies are always welcome, for example Dog food, Dog bed, puppy pads, toys and such. Just reach out to us and we can talk about a meet up.

Although it is a heart breaking situation, we are so grateful that we were in a position to step up today, but we know it takes a village. Thank you to everyone who supports the mission of Task Force TailWag. Let’s get these babies the life they deserve.
